My battery drains too fast

Modified on Tue, 16 Dec, 2025 at 2:26 PM

  Quick response

If your battery is draining faster than expected, this is usually caused by sleep and power settings, background activity, or how the device is handled while idle.

  • Battery life can be significantly improved by adjusting power settings.
  • Some behaviours can prevent the device from entering proper sleep mode.
  • Follow the steps below in order to optimise battery life.

Follow the steps below in order, without skipping any.

Important to know (before troubleshooting)

Battery life depends heavily on sleep and power-off settings
An idle device that does not enter sleep mode will drain faster
Some external interactions (such as pen contact) may wake the device

Step 1 – Configure Auto Sleep

Auto Sleep ensures the device enters sleep mode when not in use.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the Settings icon in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Battery.
  4. Tap Auto Sleep.
  5. Choose how long the device should wait before entering sleep mode.

Step 2 – Configure Auto Power Off

Auto Power Off shuts the device down completely when unused for a longer period.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Select Battery.
  4. Tap Auto Power Off.
  5. Select the desired power-off duration.

Step 3 – Enable No Load Shutdown

This feature reduces battery drain when the device is idle.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Go to Battery.
  4. Enable No Load Shutdown.

Step 4 – Avoid placing the pen on the device in sleep mode

After the Supernote enters sleep mode, do not place the pen on the screen.

  • Pen contact may wake the device or prevent proper sleep.
  • This can lead to unnecessary battery drain.

What is NORMAL (and not a bug)

  • Battery drain increases if sleep or power-off settings are disabled
  • Higher battery usage during long writing sessions
  • Reduced battery life when Wi-Fi is left on continuously

ℹ️ These behaviours are normal and depend on usage and settings.

When should you contact support?

Only contact customer support if:

  1. battery drain remains excessive after adjusting all power settings
  2. the device loses a large percentage of battery while idle overnight
  3. the device becomes warm while not in use
  4. the Supernote is new or was received recently

Remember to specify:

  • your device model (A5 X / A6 X / A6 X2 Nomad)
  • your Auto Sleep and Auto Power Off settings
  • whether No Load Shutdown is enabled
  • approximate battery loss over a given time period
  • what you have already tried
