  Quick response

If your Supernote writes even when the pen is not touching the screen, this is called non-contact writing (also known as ghost writing).

  • This issue is different from screen ghosting (afterimages).
  • In most cases, it can be fixed by adjusting the Non-Contact Writing setting.
  • If needed, additional steps depend on your pen model.

Follow the steps below in order, without skipping any.

Important to know (before troubleshooting)

Non-contact writing means the pen writes without touching the screen
This is not the same as ghosting (afterimages when turning pages)
Some steps depend on your pen model (Standard / HOM Gen 1 / HOM Gen 2 / LAMY)

Step 1 – Adjust the Non-Contact Writing setting (recommended)

This is the recommended solution in most cases.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Display & Input.
  3. Tap Stylus.
  4. Choose Calibration.
  5. Select Non-Contact Writing.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

After completing the calibration, test your pen again.

Step 2 – Standard or HOM Gen 1 pens

If non-contact writing continues after Step 1, try the methods below.

Method 1

  1. Lift your pen up.
  2. Press it vertically against a flat surface.
  3. Push until the pen nib is fully inserted into the pen body.
  4. Repeat this process several times (at least three times).
  5. Test the pen on your Supernote.

Method 2

  1. Remove the pen grip.
  2. Press the pen against a flat surface as far as the spring allows.
  3. Reattach the pen grip securely.
  4. Test the pen again.

Tip

If non-contact writing stops after Method 1 or Method 2, you can stop here.

Step 3 – HOM Gen 2 pens (advanced)

If you use an HOM Gen 2 pen and the issue persists:

  • You will need pliers and a soft cloth or paper towel.
  • Follow the steps below carefully to avoid damaging the pen.

  1. Remove the cap from the pen.
  2. Twist off the pen grip.
  3. Carefully pull the pen tip out using pliers.
  4. Clean the pen tip and check for any blockages.
  5. Reinsert the pen tip.
  6. Press the pen against a flat surface to reset the internal mechanism.
  7. Reattach the pen grip and test the pen on your Supernote.

Note

If you are not comfortable using pliers, do not continue this step.
Contact support instead.

Step 4 – LAMY pens

If you use a LAMY pen and the issue continues:

  • Take a short video showing the issue while writing.
  • Send it to support for further assistance.

What is NORMAL (and not a bug)

  • Occasional need to recalibrate after changing pen parts or environment
  • Minor variations depending on temperature or nearby electronics

When should you contact support?

Only contact customer support if:

  1. non-contact writing continues after completing Step 1
  2. you have tried the correct method for your pen model (Standard / HOM Gen 1 / HOM Gen 2 / LAMY)
  3. you use a LAMY pen and need assistance (please include a short video)
  4. the device or pen is new or was received recently

Remember to specify:

  • your device model (A5 X / A6 X / A6 X2 Nomad)
  • your pen model (Standard / HOM Gen 1 / HOM Gen 2 / LAMY)
  • what you have already tried
  • a short video clearly showing the issue
